Funder principles for research in epidemics
A set of principles to align research funders towards a coordinated effort for supporting high-quality research for the most pressing global needs in epidemics and pandemics.
This report summarises findings from case studies in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Senegal. It includes a mapping of international donors and initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa that are supporting scientific research and training, within the broader context of increasing investments in science, technology and innovation.
This study supports the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the UK Department for International Development (DfID) and South Africa’s National Research Foundation (NRF) Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI).
