UKCDR & GLoPID-R have launched a database to track newly funded research projects to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic

The tool, called the COVID-19 Research Project Tracker, is a live database of funded research projects across the world related to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Global funders are working fast to direct funding to the research response to COVID-19. The UK for example, has moved quickly to commit over £300m to research. But critical gaps remain.

The database of funded research projects on COVID-19 will help funders and researchers identify gaps and opportunities and inform future research investments or coordination needs.

The aim is to support funders and researchers deliver a more effective and coherent global research response, by providing an overview of research projects mapped against the priorities identified in the WHO Coordinated Global Research Roadmap: 2019 Novel Coronavirus.

It includes:

  • New research projects funded to date through competitive funding calls since Feb 2020
  • Heatmap of these projects against the research priorities set out in the WHO Coordinated Global Research Roadmap: 2019 Novel Coronavirus, March 2020
  • Supporting information on funding calls
  • Links to other sources of information

Whilst every attempt is being made to provide a comprehensive overview, we do not pretend to have an exhaustive list of all research projects. Many of the funding calls are ongoing and haven’t announced funding yet, therefore we expect to add many more datasets in the next few weeks. Please help us complete the database by contributing any additional datasets to covid19@old-ukcdr.s14staging.uk.
