The Newton Fund will invest £735 million from 2014–2021 to support the use of science and innovation partnerships to promote economic development and social welfare of partner countries, through matched resources.
The Newton Fund is managed by the UK’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
The Newton Fund builds research and innovation partnerships with countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to support economic development and social welfare, tackle global challenges and develop talent and careers.
It does this through:
- Equitable partnerships with middle-income countries
- Multidisciplinary research based on agreed national strategies
- Nurturing talent and careers with capacity development
