It draws on the helpful timeline produced by Alex Evans at Global Dashboard and IISD’s Post-2015 Policy and Practice knowledge base to highlight high-level events of interest.

The timeline will be updated periodically to include relevant events.

2014

5 -9 May

11th session of the Open Working Group on the post-2015 SDGs, discussing 16 focus areas and 140 related targets.

12 -16 May

Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing (New York – 4th session).

14 – 15 May

Clean Energy Ministerial (Seoul – 5th session) on the theme of “Act Together, Think Creative”.

20 May

Delivering the Post 2015 applied science and skills agenda for Africa: the role of business (New York), organised by the Planet Earth Institute.

21 – 22 May

Contributions of South-South, Triangular Cooperation and ICT for Development to the the Post-2015 Development Agenda (New York, third in a series of three high-level events convened by the President of the UN General Assembly).

27 – 29 May

ECOSOC Integration Segment on Sustainable Urbanisation (New York).

2 June

Release of the “zero draft” of goals and targets by the Co-Chairs of the Open Working Group on the SDGs. An official companion document discusses the mainstreaming of issues such as gender, disability, climate, and disaster preparedness and resilience building across the 17 goals.

4 – 6 June

Sustainable Energy for All Forum (New York). The third day will consist of a high-level ministerial dialogue on energy in the post 2015 development agenda.

9 – 11 June

Co-chairs of the OWG will receive initial feedback from delegations on the “zero draft” of goals and targets in informal consultations.

16 – 20 June

12th session of the Open Working Group on the post-2015 sustainable development goals.

30 June – 9 July

Second meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, convened by ECOSOC, on the theme of “Achieving the Millennium Development Goals and charting the way for an ambitious post-2015 development agenda, including the sustainable development goals”.

10-11 July

UN Development Cooperation Forum coordinated by ECOSOC.

14 – 18 July

13th and final session of the Open Working Group on the post-2015 sustainable development goals. An outcome document summing up the progress of the Open Working Group was produced following the session.

Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing and Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals report back to UN General Assembly.

Meeting to approve summary for policymakers of the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report.

Stakeholder Meetings of the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development(Okayama, Japan).

OECD Development Assistance Committee High Level Meeting (Paris).

The DAC will put forward a new framework for reporting on external development finance, together with a new statistical measure of “total official support for development”.
